This week, we pause to reflect on the past year. Allow the scarred hands of Jesus to touch and heal your tired, wounded heart. Christ is risen! Christ is risen, indeed! Alleluia!


Monday In this painting, where are your eyes drawn? To the lamb? To the Savior? Rest. Psalm 133

Tuesday There is a lot of discussion about what Jesus really looked like. When you imagine Jesus, what do you see? Consider journaling, and rest. 1 John 1:1-5

Wednesday Is there someone with whom you could talk about this painting? Reflect together on the power of art in our faith lives. Rest. 1 John 1:6-10

Thursday Remember when Jesus said, “Give to Caesar that which is Caesar’s, and to God, that which is God’s”? What does that mean to you? Rest. 1 John 2:1-2

Friday If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would you choose to go? What draws you to this particular place? Consider a “journey of the mind,” online or through library books. Rest. Acts 4:32-35

Saturday As you pray for yourself today, remember someone whom you loved, who has died. Allow yourself to feel whatever comes along. Rest. John 20:19-31

Sunday Easter lasts for a season, not just one Sunday. Commit yourself to joyful celebration today! Laugh out loud and sing with the radio if you like! Christ is risen! Rest in that Good News. Psalm 133 J

 

The person who can bring the spirit of laughter into a room [or a tomb] is indeed blessed.

It's that time again. . . .

When the seasons shift, even the subtle beginning, the scent of a promised changed, I feel something stir inside me. Hopefulness? Gratitude? Openness?  Whatever it is,  it’s welcome. –Kristin Armstrong No matter what part of the world you call home, this time of year brings big changes. While my friends Down Under are watching sings of new growth emerge from the earth as temperatures rise, here in Ohio, the leaves are turning from green to gold and orange, red and brown. The winds have taken on a chill; clouds hang heavy, like soggy cotton, reminding us that soon and very soon, we are going to see the snow . Always different, yet somehow, the same. Starting again

“This, then, is how you should pray:" --Matthew 6:9a I have been really sensing lately that there is another blog inside me, one focused on prayer.  Oh, I know-- those elephants are all about prayer. Heck, they  are  prayer. And I will continue there, as well. But what I've been feeling is that people-- maybe you--  have always been told, "You should pray," or "Pray about that." But maybe you feel your prayers aren't "good enough," or that it's just too hard, too embarrassing, too [fill in the blank] to pray. Maybe it feels like no one really talks about how  to pray-- except, of course, for Jesus, in Matthew 6 and a couple parallel passages where we are given what's come to be known as The Lord's Prayer.
